In March 2017 I had Laser eye surgery with Mr Paul O’Brien at Blackrock Clinic. After detailed research and consultations at two other providers, I chose Blackrock over some of the high-street alternatives as it turned out to be both better value and better service. The service Paul and his team provided was so impressive. There is zero pressure and tonnes of empathy. All the support staff are wonderfully attentive but in a very sincere way. You feel like a patient, not a customer. I’ve gone from having very poor sight to 20/20. The surgery itself is really simple, you’re in and out in a flash. The benefits are fantastic and lifelong.
I underwent phakic lens implant surgery earlier this year. Prior to my initial consultation with Mr O’Brien, I had been quite apprehensive as I knew relatively little about the procedure. Mr O’Brien clearly explained the surgery and patiently addressed all of my concerns. I received the best of care throughout the process from surgery right through to my post-operation consultation. The procedure and my recovery went exactly as outlined and the results have been excellent. I would strongly urge anyone considering this surgery to go for it as the outcome has been life-changing.
Many friends and colleagues had undergone laser surgery in the past. Knowing absolutely nothing about it, I always felt they were a little cavalier. As a 40th birthday present to myself I bit the bullet and went for an assessment with Paul O’Brien. The professionalism and thoroughness of Paul and his team completely reassured me, quelling any doubts or nervousness I may have had. The surgery itself was utterly painless and over in 10 minutes. The next day, being able to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses was fabulous. Having worn glasses on and off as a child and then permanently since my early teens, it was remarkable to be able to see without faffing about with lenses or reaching for my glasses. The obvious benefits are being able to see first thing in the morning, see what’s happening when I open the oven door and see my kids in the local swimming pool. Also, having peripheral vision is wonderful, something glasses never delivered for me. A terrible cliche I know, but I am truly sorry I didn’t have laser eye surgery years ago.
Having recently had LASIK laser eye surgery in Blackrock Clinic with Paul O’Brien and his team I can safely say it has changed my way of life. I was nervous about getting the procedure but have to say I was always put at ease with the positivity from the team and everything was explained in clear understandable language. I couldn’t believe how quick my eyes recovered to 20/20 vision following the surgery and the days of glasses/contact lenses were behind me. I have an interest in many sports; golf, running, cycling, and pool and feel that this procedure has changed my enjoyment of these. For anyone thinking of having laser eye surgery, I would highly recommend it and Paul.
